Latch Hires Joan Soskin as GM of Smart Home

Today, Latch announced that Joan Soskin has joined the leadership team as Vice President and General Manager of Smart Home. Soskin will oversee the Smart Home team, including its strategy, P&L, and product roadmap.

“The smart home space is evolving quickly, and Joan’s deep experience in it will power Latch’s growth for years to come,” said Latch CPO Dhruva Rajendra. “With millions of new devices being brought online every day, there are more opportunities to bring new experiences to residents and new efficiencies we can drive for our customers and their property managers. We have a strong conviction that smart home will play an increasingly important role on Latch’s product roadmap for years to come.”

Prior to joining Latch, Soskin led a multi-disciplinary team building product and strategy for connected living in multifamily for Samsung SmartThings, a leading smart home platform with tens of millions of users and hundreds of supported devices. During her time there, Joan drove development of SmartThings’ full product suite for apartments, including ground-up architecture, three core applications, and several key integrations.

Previously, Soskin served as COO and VP of Product for STRATIS IoT, a smart building solution provider for apartments that was recently acquired by RealPage. There, she scaled the company’s operations and growth, launched their smart home experience, and played a key role in managing international partnerships and expansion with key partners in Japan and Brazil.

Soskin began her career developing connected products for companies including Assa Abloy, Allegion, and Yale through BuLogics, Inc., an IoT consultancy specializing in novel wireless product development leveraging a range of protocols and technologies.

Soskin’s continuous experience pushing the envelope of possibility for IoT and smart home devices will help ensure Latch’s industry-leading innovation continues to set the standard for multifamily and beyond.

“The best opportunities to drive innovation have the rare combination of the right timing and team, and I’m thrilled to have found both with Latch,” said Soskin. “Built right, a true smart home makes life easier and more efficient, saving time and energy—two of the most precious commodities in today’s world. Latch is poised with the right platform at the right time to bring this value to more homes, and I’m thrilled to be a part of that.”
